Together with Cambridge Blockchain Society and Cambridge Blockchain Hub we held a hackathon uniting students from the leading universities of England.  CBHACK was a unique opportunity to network with the leading professionals in this industry and even potentially get a job in one of the sponsoring companies. THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF SMART CONTRACTS AND BLOCKCHAIN

January 26th, 2019

As a first HT event, Oxford Fintech and SmartLaw Society in partnership with Bitmeet invited Cais Manai from R3 to lead the workshop on The Technical Aspects of Smart Contracts and Blockchain. The speaker will briefly introduce Blockchain and Corda and then participants will dive into how to build a CorDapp. Corda is a private and secure platform for smart contract development which removes costly friction in business transactions by enabling institutions to transact directly using smart contracts.

Applications of Blockchain: Insurance, VR and Gaming. During this event we found out how blockchain technology will improve insurance, virtual reality and gaming. Peter Temperley, Chief Product Officer at Blocksure, gave an insight into blockchain powered insurance solutions. Alicia Micklethwait, Chief Financial Officer at Virt-U, shared with her thoughts on the future transformation of gaming.

The speaker was Mr Daniel Doll- Steinberg - an experienced entrepreneur who, among his other ventures, has established a company named Tribeka Ltd that is changing the way software and entertainment products are delivered. He also embraced blockchain technology and founded a Virt-U startup in the gaming industry which is scheduled to raise funds via ICO.
